5. eGayTimUK

Objective: Customize the PHPauction XL software at http://www.egay.co.uk by making following changes/additions:

a) Manual Patch Update: PHPauction.net adds the patches automatically using the admin backend tool, but if one uses this automated tool, all the development that has been carried out will get over written. Hence manual installation of all the latest patches were to be carried out making sure it didn't interfere with any development work already carried out on the site.

b) Webstores: Amend the current system so that store owners can choose a category when listing an item (currently it just defaults to the one category you pick when setting up a store). So the list item would be more like the normal list item page. A store owner would be able to post one item in to one category and another item in to a different category.

c) Store item count: Item count under each store category were added to the respective auction item count under each category on the home page.

d) Admin Changes: In the "category tree" section in the backend admin module, some additional fields where built so that the admin can amend the page title and meta data for each category page to help with SEO. Also, additional text field named "Category display Text" was provided, which the admin would fill in and the text would then appear on the category page next to the title. For example, for "arts and antiques" category, one can add text to say: "Welcome to our Arts and Antiques section, please find listed below a selection of items for sale.." Purpose of this change was to help the site with regard to SEO.
